PRELIMINARY HEALTH TESTING
The Shar Pei club of Great Britain continues to be actively involved in promoting healthy Shar Pei. To do this we need everyone's support and participation in this scheme to make a difference to the health of our breed.
The SPCGB advocates the health testing of ALL Shar Pei not just show dogs and advocates that, to build a strong foundation for the breed, ALL breeding stock is health tested. Working with vets, we have developed a screening programme for all dogs that grades several areas that could be detrimental to health such as size of ear canals, eyes, skin etc. Dogs who pass the vet check will be issued with a preliminary health report certificate.
On the right is a list of vets who have agreed to take part in the scheme. We have agreed a charge of £35.00 + VAT with these vets. You can take your dog to your own vet or a vet of your choice but we cannot guarantee what you will be charged. Once your dog has been tested you can apply for a Preliminary Health Certificate.
To apply for a form for the vet to complete you will need:

Microchip number.
The Health report is a general check by the vet of your choice to say the dog is healthy and fit for function. It is NON INVASIVE.
