As custodians of the breed, the foremost aim of the Shar Pei Club of Great Britain is to promote the health and well-being of the breed and with that in mind, breeders must strive to breed healthy puppies to live healthy lives and bring life-long pleasure to their owners. The Club recommends that its members, who do breed their dogs participate in the Clubs "Breeder of Merit" Scheme and make use of any health testing as recommended by the Club in order to try to eradicate known health problems.
